Child's dress, top, pants, and bag. Sew your child a comfortable and stylish pullover pillow case dress, made from a vintage or new pillowcase dress or fabric. It has a drawstring across the top. You can lengthen it by adding contrast bands or trims, or you can shorten it to a top length by adjusting the hem. The pull-on shorts have an elastic waist and contrast hem bands either of contrast or self fabric. The darling bag has a strap made from 1/2" ribbon. This sewing pattern includes a flat zipper bag to fit inside her purse. Simplicity Crafts, Pillowcase Fashions, Drake Ferris, Simplicity 2391, 2010.

I'm sure you've heard about the world-wide push for sewers to stitch pillowcase dresses for the children of Haiti and other disaster stricken areas around the world. Through necessity, medical personnel have discovered these sweet dresses also double as hospital gowns, using the shoulder ties for easy access for IVs or medical equipment. This is one charity I've never sewn for, but it is a very worthwhile effort. Cudos to the thousands of folks who have sewn and donated many thousands of these dresses.
